Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are invited to join a free Marngrook making workshop with Bernadette Atkinson (Wolithiga – Yorta Yorta).  Participants will be able to make an authentic possum pelt ball in a culturally safe space.  All materials and tools will be provided.

  • All materials and tools supplied.
  • Light catering also provided.
  • Bookings essential.  Limited capacity.
  • This workshop is designed for adults, but kids (over 10 years) may attend if accompanied by an adult.
  • This workshop is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.

Bernadette belongs to the Wolithiga Clan, Yorta Yorta Nations. She has had over 30 years experience working in government, community and academic areas predominantly around Aboriginal education and cultural awareness.

Bernadette holds a double degree in Arts/Education majoring in Aboriginal History and General History and a Masters of Education with a focus on Policy, Leadership and Change. Her Masters thesis focused on Aboriginal Education and teachers’ responses to AITSL and their standards towards teaching.

She was previously a Cultural Educator here at KHT delivering cultural awareness and competency training to industry, community and educational institutions.

Bernadette is also the owner of Winyarr Dreaming Creations which has a focus on cultural connection and learning about Marngrooks and culture through workshops or information sessions.

We acknowledge the generous support of our public programming partners: Viva Energy Australia, Krystyna Campbell-Pretty and Family and The Orloff Family Charitable Trust.
