The Koorie Heritage Trust is excited to launch the Koorie Art Show: Kids and Youth Awards for our younger artists aged 5 – 16 years!

The theme for the artworks is ‘My Story’.

Artworks can be in any medium or style but must tell YOUR story. You can explore things like your family, community, dreams, things you love, things you like to do, your school , your friends, anything about you!!

Deliver the works with a completed entry form to the Koorie Heritage Trust between 19 – 24 November. All works will be exhibited on lvl 2 of the Koorie Heritage Trust and will go in the running to win up to prizes of art packs worth up to $250.

The exhibition will be launched, and winners announced on 8 December 2018 and will be on display until 24 February 2019. Works from the Kids and Youth Awards will not be for sale.

Important Dates:

  • Artwork and entry form delivery: 19 – 24 November 2018
  • Exhibition launch and announcement of prizes: Saturday 8 December 2018, 2:00pm – 4:00pm
  • Exhibition dates: 8 December 2018 – 24 February 2019

  • Mick Harding – Artist, Chairperson of the Aboriginal Treaty Working Group

Entries are eligible for the following prizes

Artists aged between 5-10 years old are in the running to win:

  • TWO Encouragement Award Art Packs worth $50 each
  • TWO Koorie Art Show Award Art Packs worth $100 each

Artists aged between 11-16 years old are in the running to win:

  • TWO Encouragement Award Art Packs worth $100 each
  • TWO Koorie Art Show Award Art Packs worth $250 each

NB: Access for level 2: Please note there is no public lift access to the level 2 project space. Access is via a set of escalators (going up only) or 23 stairs with a 1.3metre landing and a hand rail on both sides of the stairs. If you are unable to walk down 23 stairs, you can continue up another set of escalators (going up only) or 23 stairs to level 3 to take our public lift down to the ground entrance. On Saturday 8 December for the exhibition launch, lift access to level 2 will be made available to those that require it.

The Koorie Art Show is a Victorian Government initiative through Creative Victoria in partnership with the Koorie Heritage Trust. The Koorie Arts Show: Kids and Youth Awards 2018 has been developed in partnership and supported by the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency.
