Pakana Maleetyé is a solo exhibition by Pakana artist Joel Birnie with guest curator Yhonnie Scarce.

In Pakana Maleetyé, Birnie explores the themes of family history, memory and identity with a direct reference to his Indigenous Tasmanian heritage. These common themes are also prominent in guest curator Yhonnie Scarce’s own artwork and it is through these similarities that this exhibition was formed.

Birnie has exhibited nationally and internationally; Pakana Maleetyé is Birnie’s first solo exhibition in Melbourne and at the Koorie Heritage Trust.
