Together with Pierra Van Sparkes, KHT are presenting a free online workshop for blak artists on how to write an Artist Bio.
Sharing writing resources and example bios, this workshop aims be a space to gather and exchange ideas about how you want to represent your self, place, art, and voice to the world via your Artist Bio. Your Artist Bio can always grow with you, but it doesn’t hurt to have some solid text to start from — or to revisit and develop for that matter!
This will be particularly useful for those planning on entering the Koorie Art Show this year, as well as other forums such as websites, social media, galleries, shops and media.
Pierra Van Sparkes is a Kulin Country based Pibbulman Noongar artist and assistant curator at the Koorie Heritage Trust. Their work is inspired by the shared history, feelings and encounters that shape lived experiences of Aboriginality amidst manifold blak identities. Working with photography, video and digital media, they explore experiences of place, belonging and interrogate mythscapes that inform notions of Indigenous authenticity, settler-colonial supremacy and the modes in which they manifest.
This workshop is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members only.
We acknowledge the generous support of our public programming partners: Viva Energy Australia and Krystyna Campbell-Pretty and Family.
