The Koorie Heritage Trust is calling all budding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists aged between 5 and 16 years old and living in Victoria, to enter the Koorie Art Show: Kids and Youth Awards 2019 and be eligible for prizes.
The Koorie Art Show: Kids and Youth Awards forms part of our annual Koorie Art Show which showcases the diverse talents of Victoria’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in one inclusive space.
All entries must comply with this year’s theme “Connection to Country” and must be submitted between Monday 18 November and Sunday 24 November 2019.
The exhibition will be launched, and prizes announced on Saturday 7 December 2019 and entries will be on display in the Project Space until Sunday 23 February 2020.
Prizes will be awarded to artists that show exceptional creativity in their response to the theme of “Connection to Country”.
The judges for this year’s prizes are:
Aunty Esther Kirby OAM (Yorta Yorta and Wiradjuri) – Elder and Artist; Maxine Briggs (Taungwurrung and Yorta Yorta) – Koorie Librarian, Indigenous Research Centre, State Library of Victoria and previous member of the Koorie Arts Collective/first Chairperson of Songlines Aboriginal Music Corporation; Steven Rhall (Taungurung) artist and academic.
