Jute Twining Vessels with Bianca Easton

As part of KHT’s monthly weaving workshops, join Boon Wurrung woman and maker Bianca Easton for a weaving circle creating jute vessels using the technique of twining.  Twining is different from coil weaving, and uses a method of twisting two strands around your vertical warps.  This satisfying craft can be done with many natural materials.  We will be using biodegradable, natural jute twine in this workshop.

  • All tools and materials supplied.
  • Light catering provided.
  • Free but bookings required.
  • This is a workshop suitable for adults and kids 8+
  • All kids must be supervised and assisted by an adult.
  • Fine motor-skills required.

Bianca Easton is a proud Boon Wurrung woman who was born and raised in Naarm around the coast of the Bay.

The coastline, waterways, plants, animals and County in general inspire my ever evolving  art practice and I am alway looking to learn more.

I have also been very  fortunate and grateful to learn to weave from  Elders and other community members and now enjoy teaching others this craft, especially the next generation.

I am passionate about art and being creative, and believe that it is incredibly healing, a way to reconnect with self, Culture, community and a valuable tool to help deal with trauma and to practise self care.

We acknowledge the generous support of our public programming partners: Viva Energy Australia; Krystyna Campbell-Pretty and Family; and the Orloff Family Charitable Trust.
