The 11th Koorie Art Show 2023

CALL FOR ENTRIES

The Koorie Heritage Trust (KHT) is calling for entries from First Peoples artists from across Victoria.

The annual Koorie Art Show is an open-entry, non-acquisitive award exhibition, presenting the works of emerging, mid-career and senior First Peoples artists, designers and crafts people.

It showcases a wide variety of works, from illustration to painting, digital, textiles and more and highlights what is happening now in First Peoples art from across Victoria.

Call for entries is now closed.

Delivery of artworks:
Wednesday November 15 and Wednesday November 22, 10am-4pm

The Koorie Art Show will be the first exhibition in KHTs new temporary exhibitions galleries, created as part of the Trust’s building expansion and occupation of all three levels of the Yarra Building at Fed Square.

“This is an exciting time for the KHT as it will creating a stand-alone First Peoples arts and cultural centre – a first of its kind in an Australian capital city’’, says Tom Mosby, Koorie Heritage Trust CEO. “An expanded footprint in the heart of the Melbourne Arts Precinct recognises the importance of First Peoples, culture and community as central to Narrm and consolidates KHT as a place for everyone; a unique space rich in culture, heritage and history, which welcomes and encourages all people to come together in the spirit of learning and reconciliation. I’m delighted that our 11th Koorie Art Show be will the first exhibition in our new galleries’’.

All entries will be eligible for numerous prizes including the Creative Victoria Award for Excellence in any Media; City of Melbourne Aboriginal Melbourne Award; Viva Energy 3D Award; Josh Muir Digital Art Award; People’s Choice Award; and two Encouragement Awards.

The Koorie Art Show Young Mob is also open for entry.  KAS Young Mob showcases the diverse talent of Victoria’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists aged between 5 and 16 years.  Young mob can enter here.

All visual arts mediums are eligible and previous shows have included painting, drawing, photography, prints, sculpture, video and installation.

All entries are exhibited in the Koorie Heritage Trust’s Gallery at Fed Square.  All works are available for sale to the public.
