MARNGROOK COMMUNITY WORKSHOP

Image supplied by Bernadette Atkinson

Join Bernadette Atkinson (Wolithiga Clan, Yorta Yorta Nations) from Winyarr Dreaming Creations for a family-friendly workshop making possum fur marngrooks. The word Marngrook comes from the Gunditjmara language and means ‘game ball’. Elements of AFL are believed to have originated from a traditional game that was played with a possum skin ball. Learn about the history of Marngrook and make one to take home!

Bernadette Atkinson is an artist and educator who works in various mediums, has researched and undertaken the making of marngrooks as an act of cultural revitalisation and production.
