KIDS EMU EGG CARVING WORKSHOP WITH AUNTY LUCY WILLIAMS-CONNELLY
Celebrate the Easter school holidays by learning the art of emu egg carving with Aunty Lucy Williams-Connelly.
Aunty Lucy is a master emu egg carver, taught by her father and his cousin, well-known master egg carver Sam Kirby. Lucy has been carving emu eggs and practicing wood-burning, taught to her by her father, for over 50 years. She also weaves baskets, and makes paper and feather flowers. Her artworks have been acquired by collections all over the world, and she had shown her works in several Koorie Heritage Trust exhibitions including Carved Out of Life (2016) and Intertwined (2017). Lucy lives in Swan Hill, Victoria where she has lived for over 50 years.
Each child will get their own emu egg to keep and carve using a child-friendly blunt tool to carve with.
