COMMUNITY-ONLY KIDS WORKSHOP: MARNGROOKS WITH BERNADETTE ATKINSON

The word Marngrook comes from the Gunditjmara language and means ‘game ball’. Elements of AFL are believed to have originated from this traditional game played with a possum fur ball. Learn about the history of Marngrook and make one to take home!

Bernadette Atkinson is a cultural educator at the Koorie Heritage Trust and a Yorta Yorta woman. Berndatte has been running workshops and making Marngrooks as well as running her own business, Winyaar Creations for over two years. Her Marngrooks have been used at the Dreamtime at the G football matches.

This workshop is for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community only.

All materials supplied. Tea and coffee provided.
